Today I saw Necessary Targets a play written by Eve Ensler and Directed by Prakash Balewadi. And here I go with my first review of a PLAY.
The play involves a Disaster Specialist (Melissa) and an Urban Psychiatrist (JS) who team up for an assignment which takes them to Bosnia to help the female refugees to cope up with their traumas. What happens next ... Were they successful in their mission... or else, is what the play about...
When I read the plot at www.rangashankara.org, I found the story line decent and but the reason I went for the play was the director. I have seen another play Prakash Balewadi called Copenhagen and that was a brilliant play according to me.
I was impressed with Necessary Targets too. Well I was getting bored in the first 10-15 mins but later when the story started progressing it became more gripping and intense and finished with a nice climax in 90 mins.
Other things which I liked were the original score...The impeccably timed flute and the violin (or double bass I am not sure) pieces were quite magnetic.
The sets were designed well....gave a good feel of the refugee camp.
The only thing I was not impressed with was the exit of the actors... I would have liked if they would have introduced their team and the director and support staff.
So all in all I would give this 3/5 and definitely worth a watch.
Cheers
